How to Choose a Golf Swing Replay App
The right replay app fits the devices, camera position and practice routine you already have. Check the complete recording-to-review loop before comparing extra features.

We publish SwingLoop and Swing Replay. This checklist explains buying criteria and our own supported features. It is not an independent ranking or a hands-on test of competing apps. About our guides.
Start with your devices
Write down the devices you intend to use, their operating-system versions and which one will do the filming. Then check the exact pairing combinations supported by each app.
For our apps, SwingLoop supports iPhone and iPad on iOS / iPadOS 16.4 or later. Swing Replay supports Android 10 or later. Two-device practice works within each platform; an iPhone or iPad cannot pair with Android. Android paired practice needs Google Play services, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
An old spare phone is useful only if it meets the app’s requirements and works reliably in the role you need. Check compatibility and subscriptions before purchasing a second device.
Compare the complete practice loop
| Criterion | Ask this question | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Recording | Must I press record, use a remote, or wait for detection? | This determines what you do between shots. |
| Review screen | Can I see replay from my hitting position? | A good camera angle may be behind you. |
| Playback timing | Can I change speed and the delay before playback? | Replay should fit the time it takes to look up. |
| Capture quality | Which camera, resolution and frame rates are supported? | Slow playback does not create extra recorded detail. |
| Offline use | What works without a network after setup? | Subscription verification and device connection are separate requirements. |
| Saved videos | Can I keep, label, compare, annotate and share useful clips? | A session is more useful when you can find its important examples later. |
| Privacy | Do recordings stay local or upload, and is an account required? | Check the actual privacy policy and feature behavior. |
| Cost | What is included, how does renewal work, and do both devices need access? | Free download does not necessarily mean free practice. |
Choose one screen or two
One-device replay is a straightforward place to start. It needs less equipment, but the front camera’s position also determines where you look to see the replay.
Two-device replay lets you put the camera at a consistent filming angle and the viewing screen near the mat. Check whether an app actually transfers completed clips to that screen, rather than assuming that video sharing, screen mirroring and paired replay mean the same thing.
Our one-iPhone guide, two-device iOS guide and Android setup guide show the supported workflows for our apps.
Read pricing and privacy before starting a trial
Record the billing period, current local price, trial eligibility and renewal date shown at checkout. Check the store’s cancellation controls while you have time, not at the end of the trial.
For paired practice, confirm access on both devices before going offline. Do not assume that a subscription purchased on one store transfers to a different platform or a different app.
Read the privacy policy for the exact product. Our apps keep swing videos on your devices unless you choose to share or export them; store purchases and optional analytics involve separate services described in the privacy policy.
Use a repeatable evaluation
If you try an app, use the same device, stand, camera angle, club and lighting across a small practice block. Check whether the full swing is in frame, whether the replay arrives where you expect it and whether saved clips remain easy to find.
Keep your own notes on missed clips or connection interruptions. A demonstration video shows a working example; it does not establish reliability on your devices.
If you only need a few lesson clips, compare automatic replay with your phone’s Camera app. If you want technique recommendations, read replay versus AI analysis so you evaluate the right kind of tool.
